For three generations now the Carlotto family has been dedicated with commitment and passion to the wine sector. Umberto Carlotto began working in 1940 as a sharecropper in the Schloβhof company in Mazzon, near Castel Caldif, where he cultivated the vineyards for 50 years with his brother and son Ferruccio. In 2000 Ferruccio Carlotto and his daughter Michela started making their own grapes, in full respect of the good practices of the countryside and winery handed down over the years, in order to maintain the characteristics of the place of origin in the wine. Our philosophy is to cultivate the right grape in the right place. We make three types of grapes: Pinot Noir, Lagrein and Schiava. Filari di Mazzòn is a black Pinot cultivated on the hill of Mazzon, a village on the left of the Adige valley, at the foot of the "Monte Corno" Natural Park and cradle of this delicate grape variety. From now on it is a Lagrein that grows in Ora, on the alluvial soil of the Rio Nero, from vines partly planted in 1946 and 1960 cultivated with pergola and partly planted with Guyot in 2003 and 2006. Thanks to their age, these vines allow to obtain a structured wine able to withstand medium-long ageing. The Schiava grapes come from a small pergola vineyard planted in 1980 in Mazzon. This historic South Tyrolean grape variety produces a wine with a simple character, a finely fruity character and excellent freshness. For three generations now the Carlotto family has been dedicated with commitment and passion to the wine sector.
